Senior Infants

Mrs McCarthy

We have been busy here in Room 3 getting to know one another and settling in to a new school year. Our topics for September were Myself and School. The children enjoyed exploring how they are growing and changing and created impressive self – portraits of themselves.

Aistear – Our topic for October was Harvest on the Farm. We had great fun building our class farm and making ‘Scarecrow Puppets’. We even held a ‘Scarecrow Wedding’. We explored the topic of ‘Space’ and ‘Toys’ for November and December.

Reading – We love to read here in Room 3. The girls have been working hard to creating beautiful books which we have read to our neighbours, Miss Cullen’s Junior Infants. We have also taken advantage of our new library and we visit it every Friday morning and read with our Buddy Readers from Sixth Class.

Snuggle Story Time – Wednesday 17th October was a very special day as we had our Snuggle time in the new library. We were so lucky to have our grown ups come and read with us and the hot chocolate and cookies afterwards went down a treat!!!

Art Work – We have examined different types of lines which we used these to create some scary Line Monsters and Spider Webs.
