Senior Infants

Mrs McCarthy

We have been busy here in Room 3 and really enjoying our school year.

On Wednesday the 15th of January, The Senior Infants had Snuggle story time in the Library with their grown-ups. The children were very excited to have their grown-up in to read with them. We were also treated to hot chocolate and cookies. A big thank you to Ms. Fetton for organising the event and to all our parents, we hope to see you all again in the future for another activity.

We enjoyed a lovely trip to the library and posted our Christmas cards. Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Room 3

October and November…
Harvest on the Farm was our topic for October. We had great fun building our class farm and making Scarecrow Puppets. We even held a Scarecrow’s Wedding.

Our topics for September were Myself and School. The children enjoyed exploring how they are growing and changing and created impressive Self- Portraits of themselves.

School was our topic during September for Aistear . The children enjoyed learning about places and people working in our school. We took a trip around the school and were lucky enough to be invited in to the Principals office and got to ask our secretaries questions about their work.  The children were busy designing their own schools, complete with swimming pools, parks and climbing frames.

During Aistear time the girls loved roleplaying being secretaries. We definitely have a few teachers in the making!

The week of the 23rd of September marked the start of Friendship week, a week when we explore friendship and discuss how to be a good friend to others. The children were introduced to their Sixth Class buddy who they will work closely with throughout the year.
