Hello from everyone in Ms. Feighery’s 3rd Class…
June… Check out our photos from our fantastic fun day!
May… has gone by in a flash here in 3rd class! We started off the month by trying out a new art technique – watercolour using tinfoil. It was great fun to do and the results were beautiful, take a look. In Gaeilge, we have been learning about ‘An Teilifís’ and we loved doing some drama based on this. In Maths, we’ve been busy on the topic of length and enjoyed estimating and measuring different classroom objects.
As a reward for our excellent behaviour, we made slime in school! We loved mixing the materials and getting our hands dirty.
At the end of the month, we had our cinema day. It was great and felt just like the real thing. We are really looking forward to our fun day and sports day which are happening very soon!
April… has been full of fun and new experiences in 3rd Class!
We have started learning about report writing and have been researching various topics in the computer room. We love finding out new information and sharing our facts with friends.
Gardening is a new activity which we are really enjoying at the moment. We each planted seeds and have nurtured them and watched them grow into Marigolds and Daisies. We have great fun watering our creations and seeing them get bigger and bigger.
Every day we make sure to find some time to get outside and exercise. We are taking part in the ‘Run around Ireland’ challenge for the Active School Committee. So far, we ‘ran’ to Kilkenny Castle, the Blarney Stone and the Slieve League Cliffs. We hope to make it all around Ireland by May.
In history, we are becoming experts on the Vikings. Each group were given a Viking topic to do a project on – the results were amazing! Take a look at the photos to see. We are enjoying reading novels in English, Roald Dahl is a big hit with us. Food Dudes has also started in our classroom and we are trying new fruit and veg every morning.
Finally, we have been lucky enough to have student teacher Ms. Doyle with our class for the last few weeks. She has been doing lots of great activities with us, like Volleyball in PE, improvisation in Drama and chalk pastel work in Art. We hope May will be just as exciting!
After many long weeks of home learning, we are thrilled to be back at school! It is lovely to see all of our friends again and play together in the yard. St. Patrick’s Day festivities were in full swing when we came back. We are so lucky to have had a fabulous parade to watch followed by a Céilí outside in the sunshine. We all dressed up in green and cheered and danced together. We even got our Irish dancers; Grace, Sadie and Eve Davies to put on a special performance in the yard.
Easter has landed in 3rd Class and we’re so happy to celebrate it! We have been learning all about the story of Easter in Religion, we’ve learned lots of new Easter vocabulary as Gaeilge and we had great fun creating our pop up Easter cards in Art. We also painted some beautiful cherry blossom trees, inspired by the ones outside. We have worked so very hard since returning to school that our teacher rewarded us with an ice cream party, it was very yummy. Happy Easter to all!
Wow what a busy month December has been! We cheered on the Déise and had blue and white day, that was great fun. We started our Junior Achievement programme and have been learning lots about cities and how they are designed. We have also been busy doing Christmas trails on our Active Christmas Walkway. Speaking of Christmas, we have loved creating decorations for the beautiful Christmas garden and doing some beautiful Christmas artwork. We’re really looking forward to our Pyjama party later this week and have worked so hard to earn it! We hope you like our pictures and have a lovely Christmas break!
October… Ms. Feighery’s 3rd Class would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween. We have really enjoyed our first couple of months back in school, especially all the Halloween activities we have been doing! Take a look at our beautiful pictures.
