Hello and welcome to Ms. Feighery’s 3rd Class webpage!
Happy Halloween from all of us here in 3rd Class. We are looking forward to our midterm break after weeks of fun, hard work and new learning experiences.
We’ve had a great time learning about orienteering in PE and taking part in outdoor tasks and challenges. The Halloween scavenger hunt was wonderful too!
In History, we have been researching the Stone Age and created our own ‘cave paintings’ using tea bags and black paint. This is how the Stone Age people communicated their experiences and lives to future generations which we found really interesting.
In Maths we revised our 2D shapes and learned about some new ones too. We then constructed the shapes with lollipop sticks.
Our Halloween art is looking fabulous, we loved using oil pastels to create a spooky night sky! We were extremely lucky to get to visit Garter Lane this week and take part in an art workshop. It was based on ‘A Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh and our pieces turned out beautifully.
After working so hard to get our marble jar full, we won our reward- a pizza party. It was great fun to create our very own pizzas and choose our favourite toppings. They were thoroughly enjoyed and didn’t last too long!
We had a great day today all dressed up in our Halloween costumes. We had a fashion show and disco to celebrate getting our holidays. Happy Halloween!
We have been very busy since returning to school, here’s some of what we’ve been up to. Our first few days involved lots of games and getting to know you activities, as we welcomed new girl Thabi to our class. We also spent some time preparing for our First Holy Communion which took place on the 10th of September. We have been working hard revising place value in Maths, learning about Mé Féin as Gaeilge and practising our presenting skills in English. We had great fun creating beautiful masked self-portraits for Art. We are really enjoying 3rd Class and can’t wait to see what comes next. Stay tuned!
Wow, what an exciting few weeks we’ve had in 3rd Class! We have started our computer room visits and love doing our ‘Spellings for Me’ and Maths games online. It’s lots of fun and helps us to practise our typing skills too.
There’s nothing more we love than nurturing our creative side and we have really impressed Ms. Feighery with our lovely artwork. We have been learning about the colour wheel and how primary colours are mixed together to create secondary colours. The finished product looked fantastic! As Autumn is now upon us, we went exploring our school grounds for leaves and produced some gorgeous Autumn wreaths for our front doors at home.
The highlight of September has to be meeting author David Walliams on Zoom! We were a little bit starstruck at first but learned so much from him about creative writing. He was incredibly funny and even read extracts from his most loved books. What a treat!
